Interview with the Vampire Episode Guide
Immortality brings many advantages, but a reliable memory is apparently not among them. Interview with the Vampire builds its story through recollections, interviews and competing versions of the truth, ensuring that even events we have watched may look rather different when another vampire gets hold of the microphone.
This guide follows the complete series in release order, beginning with Louis de Pointe du Lac’s account of his life in New Orleans and continuing through the Paris years and Lestat’s reinvention as an immortal rock star. Each entry provides a short, spoiler-light summary, with Skully’s Picks identifying especially rewarding episodes rather than suggesting a shortcut through the story.
The first two seasons were released as Interview with the Vampire. Season three was retitled The Vampire Lestat, but it remains a direct continuation with the same characters and storyline. A fourth season, titled Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned, has been officially confirmed.
Before you press play: Skipping episodes is emphatically not recommended. The series is heavily serialised, while apparently minor conversations often acquire much greater significance later. The summaries avoid revealing each episode’s largest development, although descriptions of later seasons inevitably disclose some earlier outcomes.
Season 1 (2022) – 7 Episodes
The opening season introduces Louis, Lestat and Claudia through Louis’s present-day interview with Daniel Molloy. His account moves from segregated New Orleans into a seductive and increasingly destructive vampire household, while Daniel begins to question whether he is hearing history, confession or an exceptionally expensive exercise in reputation management.
Episode 1: In Throes of Increasing Wonder…
Skully’s Pick
In 2022, Louis de Pointe du Lac invites journalist Daniel Molloy to his Dubai home and offers to repeat an interview they attempted decades earlier. His story begins in 1910 New Orleans, where an encounter with the magnetic Lestat de Lioncourt leads him towards a life he cannot yet comprehend.
Episode 2: …After the Phantoms of Your Former Self
Louis begins adjusting to his transformation and discovers that immortality does not remove his human loyalties, appetites or guilt. Lestat approaches vampirism as liberation, while Louis finds that drinking blood is considerably easier than accepting what it makes him.
Episode 3: Is My Very Nature That of a Devil
Louis attempts to build an ethical version of vampire existence, concentrating upon business and feeding without killing. As racial hostility threatens his ambitions, the differences between his values and Lestat’s become increasingly difficult to ignore.
Episode 4: …The Ruthless Pursuit of Blood with All a Child’s Demanding
The household expands with the arrival of Claudia, whose diaries offer another perspective upon life with Louis and Lestat. Her enthusiasm initially brings new energy to their home, although being made immortal while still young carries consequences neither of her creators properly considered.
Episode 5: A Vile Hunger for Your Hammering Heart
Skully’s Pick
Claudia’s emotional and intellectual development accelerates while her body remains unchanged. Her search for companionship ends painfully, turning youthful excitement into anger towards the men responsible for her condition.
Episode 6: Like Angels Put in Hell by God
The family attempts to recover from an eruption of violence, but affection, fear and manipulation have become inseparable. Lestat seeks reconciliation through extravagant gestures, while Claudia quietly concludes that escape will require something more decisive than packing a coffin.
Episode 7: The Thing Lay Still
Skully’s Pick
Claudia prepares an elaborate plan for Mardi Gras as the family’s life in New Orleans approaches its breaking point. In Dubai, Daniel’s questions expose gaps between Louis’s present account and the recording made during their first interview.
Season 2 (2024) – 8 Episodes
Louis and Claudia search Europe for other vampires before arriving in Paris, where the Théâtre des Vampires offers community with a substantial list of hidden terms and conditions. Meanwhile, Daniel’s investigation in Dubai turns towards Armand, the interview conducted in 1973 and the possibility that Louis’s memories have been deliberately altered.
Episode 1: What Can the Damned Really Say to the Damned
Louis and Claudia travel through war-torn Eastern Europe looking for evidence that other vampires exist. What they find is far removed from the sophisticated immortals they imagined, and growing tension between them makes their journey increasingly lonely.
Episode 2: Do You Know What It Means to Be Loved by Death
The pair reach post-war Paris and encounter Armand’s theatrical coven. Claudia is fascinated by the possibility of belonging, while Louis is drawn towards Armand despite recognising that their charming new acquaintances are conducting an interrogation beneath the hospitality.
Episode 3: No Pain
Armand recounts his earlier encounters with Lestat and the origins of the Théâtre des Vampires. His version provides Louis with new information but also reminds Daniel, and the audience, that vampire history generally arrives with the fingerprints of whoever is currently telling it.
Episode 4: I Want You More Than Anything in the World
Louis’s relationship with Armand deepens, while Claudia grows frustrated with her role at the theatre and the coven’s rigid hierarchy. A new friendship offers her the prospect of being known as an adult rather than treated as the company’s permanently youthful novelty.
Episode 5: Don’t Be Afraid, Just Start the Tape
Skully’s Pick
Daniel and Louis recover their memories of the 1973 San Francisco interview and the disturbing night that followed it. The episode strips away the elegance of Dubai and confronts the emotional damage binding all three men in the room.
Episode 6: Like the Light by Which God Made the World Before He Had Made Light
Claudia’s relationship with Madeleine develops as Louis faces a choice about their future. Suspicion within the theatre intensifies, and decisions made in apparent privacy begin drawing the attention of vampires who have never been especially relaxed about breaking rules.
Episode 7: I Could Not Prevent It
Skully’s Pick
The Théâtre des Vampires presents its most consequential performance, turning private history into public entertainment. Carefully controlled testimony forces Louis and Claudia to confront their past before an audience that has already been encouraged to reach a verdict.
Episode 8: And That’s the End of It. There’s Nothing Else
Skully’s Pick
The consequences of the theatre’s actions unfold across several decades as Louis reassesses the story he has believed about Paris. Daniel completes the interview by challenging its central deception, while Louis seeks answers from the one person capable of providing them.
Season 3 (2026) – 7 Episodes
The perspective shifts as Lestat responds to Daniel’s published book with a rock band, an international tour and his own account of vampire history. Built partly as Built partly as a music documentary, the season explores Lestat’s human childhood, transformation and talent for converting emotional distress into something that requires stage lighting.
Episode 1: Detroit
Lestat reflects upon the publication of Daniel’s book, the creation of his band and the road towards his first major concert. A hostile Detroit coven objects to his growing influence, while glimpses of the future suggest that his music will have consequences extending far beyond record sales.
Episode 2: Toledo
Touring takes Lestat to Toledo as memories return him to his childhood in Auvergne and his complicated bond with his mother. Band tensions and vampire politics grow alongside his popularity, but Lestat continues to treat restraint as a rumour circulated by less interesting people.
Episode 3: Toronto
Skully’s Pick
Daniel finally places Lestat before the cameras and questions him about his youth, his life as a Parisian actor and his first love, Nicolas. In Detroit, Louis deals with unfinished vampire business while Lestat’s carefully staged interview becomes unexpectedly revealing.
Episode 4: The Devil’s Road
A painful departure sends Lestat into another emotional spiral as the tour continues. Louis seeks support from someone familiar, and the stories surrounding Lestat’s family become more complicated than the version he has chosen to present publicly.
Episode 5: New York
The band records its album while Lestat’s songs turn his history into an increasingly public spectacle. Louis makes an important admission, Daniel receives an unsettling gift and the accelerating Great Conversion begins to overshadow the tour.
Episode 6: Montreal
Skully’s Pick
On the eve of Lestat’s largest concert, Louis and Lestat pursue three final pieces of unfinished business: a dinner, a séance and a performance. Long-suppressed truths emerge during an emotionally bruising night, while other parties decide that the Great Conversion cannot be allowed to proceed unchecked.
Episode 7: The Failures
Skully’s Pick
Lestat confronts figures from his past during a surreal reckoning with the damage he has caused. Elsewhere, Louis and Armand face their unresolved history as the Talamasca intervenes and the threatened concert draws the world towards an even older vampire power.
The story will continue in Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned. The confirmed fourth season shifts attention towards Akasha and the consequences of Lestat’s music, while continuing the evolving television adaptation of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles.
