Salt forces humanity to confront the immense damage it has inflicted upon the oceans, while Barclay struggles to make meaningful progress between two increasingly hostile sides. When government promises fail to satisfy Homo Aqua, the visitors provide the world with a dramatic demonstration of just how much rubbish has been swept conveniently out of sight.

Episode 3: The Deep

Barclay and a UNIT delegation descend into the ocean for direct negotiations with Homo Aqua, carrying the hopes of billions into an environment where humanity holds very few advantages. Back on land, political and military leaders pursue a far more dangerous solution, and suspicions grow that peace may never have been everyone’s objective.

Barclay continues trying to reach Salt, while Kate Lethbridge-Stewart faces the human cost of decisions made in the name of security and the possibility that peace may now require an almost unbearable reckoning.
