Negan is reunited with Ginny but must finally tell her the truth about her father. As Maggie reaches the end of her search for Hershel, the real purpose behind her partnership with Negan comes sharply into focus.

One year later, New Babylon’s need for fuel draws Maggie back to Manhattan as the Dama attempts to turn Negan into the leader she believes the city requires. The season broadens the conflict considerably, introducing rival gangs, military ambitions and a great many people who believe cooperation works best when preceded by blackmail.

The surviving expedition takes refuge in Central Park, where an isolated community has built a life among the ruins. Hershel becomes separated from Maggie and encounters Negan, while memories of his captivity reveal why the Dama’s vision appeals to him.

Episode 4: Feisty Friendly

Maggie and Perlie search for the Burazi’s methane operation as the increasingly divided survivors consider their next move. Negan attempts to bring another Manhattan faction into the Dama’s alliance by participating in a particularly suspicious walker fight.

Episode 5: The Bird Always Knows

An internal revolt places Maggie, Perlie and the Central Park community in immediate danger. Elsewhere, Negan continues turning the Croat and the Dama against one another, although controlling the resulting chaos proves considerably harder than creating it.

Episode 6: Bridge Partners Are Hard to Come by These Days

Negan confronts the Croat and attempts to seize control of the Burazi. Maggie and Hershel’s relationship reaches another painful impasse, while Ginny finally finds an opportunity to act upon her anger towards Negan.

Negan desperately searches Manhattan for medicine while confronting memories of Lucille, Annie and Joshua. Maggie forms an unexpected alliance during her hunt for Hershel, but reaching her son does not guarantee that he wants to be rescued.

Episode 8: If History Were a Conflagration

Maggie is pushed towards a final confrontation with Negan as Manhattan’s competing factions descend upon the methane supply. Old rituals and buried grievances return, forcing both characters to decide whether repeating history will free them or simply create another generation trapped by it.

The third season turns its attention towards reconstruction as Maggie and Negan become involved with a new community attempting to make Manhattan habitable. New leadership brings new disputes, while the introduction of Mason Dillard gives Negan a friendship that is odd even by post-apocalyptic standards.

Episode 1: Trillium

Maggie and Negan are captured by siblings Renata and Luis, whose family urgently needs Manhattan’s remaining methane. The search brings them back into contact with the Croat, while Hershel begins reconsidering the influence the Dama holds over him.

Episode 2: Haven

Maggie helps establish a new settlement and considers using the Statue of Liberty as a beacon for other survivors. Negan remains withdrawn at Dillard’s bar until news of the Dama forces him back into the community’s growing conflict.

Episode 3: Emigrants

Two groups answering Maggie’s beacon arrive carrying wounded survivors and an old feud. The settlement’s limited medical resources are pushed to breaking point, while Negan tries to determine whether either faction can become part of the community.

Episode 4: Found/Lost

Maggie and Luis travel beyond Manhattan to bargain with a well-connected trader for medical supplies. Back in the city, Negan and the others attempt to clear walkers from an essential storage area, only to discover that moving the dead can create very living engineering problems.

Episode 5: Imperialis

A dangerous mission inside the Empire State Building could solve the settlement’s worsening energy crisis. Success briefly gives the community something to celebrate, but a violent dispute over leadership exposes the widening divide between Negan and Renata.

Episode 6: Genesis

An imagined world without the zombie outbreak allows Maggie and Negan to meet as strangers unburdened by Glenn, the Saviors or years of bloodshed. The unusual episode offers a revealing character study rather than an escape from reality, asking whether different circumstances could truly have made them different people.

Episode 7: Hourglass

Dillard’s relationship with Negan collapses after the destruction of his walker companions. As accusations divide the settlement, Maggie races to prevent an execution and stop the community from tearing itself apart.

Episode 8: Tenebrae

Dillard takes control of the settlement and threatens its residents, leaving Maggie, Negan and Hershel to organise a desperate counterattack. The finale brings the season’s conflicts to an emotional conclusion and establishes a new future for Manhattan without pretending its central wounds have simply disappeared.
